How we helped Fernando Install his new Heat Pump

When renovating his family home, Fernando decided first on the long list of home improvements was to replace his LPG system. With huge increases in gas prices, Fernando was keen to explore air source heat pumps further and visited our office and showroom in Witchford to see and hear our heat pumps in action.

Whilst Fernando was planning his renovation, he was also busy designing a new build property for his sister and was delighted to learn that an air source heat pump system would be suitable to provide the heating and hot water for both an existing house and a new build.

The heat loss calculations confirmed 2 x 12kW NIBE air source heat pumps would meet be required, along with a 300ltr cylinder.

With a plan in place, our team disconnected the existing LPG boiler, flue, and cylinder and stripped out the radiators before laying underfloor heating on the ground floor and replacement radiators on the first floor. The NIBE heat pumps were fitted and connected to the cylinder, providing a future-proof heating system.

Shortly after completing Fernando’s installations, we carried out the installation of a 12kW NIBE air source heat pump, along with a 200ltr cylinder and underfloor heating.

How we helped Madeleine Install her new Heat Pump

Madeleine’s ageing oil boiler was coming to the end of its life when she gave us a call. Although air source heat pumps were a very new technology to the family, it seemed an obvious choice rather than replacing their system with another oil boiler, especially as at the time oil prices were very volatile.

Shane visited Madeleine’s home and carried out MCS heat loss calculations, which concluded a 14kW Mitsubishi EcoDan air source heat pump was needed along with several radiator upgrades.

Madeleine was delighted to take advantage of the Government’s Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) and received £5,000 towards her installation, plus her installation was at 0% VAT.

We asked Madeleine what advice she would give someone looking to start their renewable journey. “Do your research, but also find a friend or neighbour who has had it done already and ask questions and arrange to have a look at theirs. How Much Do Heat

Pump Systems Cost?

Installing a heat pump costs between £6,000 and £18,500, depending on the type of heat pump system you choose and what you need to connect it to your property. Even with this cost, they can deliver energy bill savings of up to £1,550 a year.

Air source heat pumps are generally far less expensive to install than ground source heat pumps. Depending on the specifications of the system you choose, you should expect to pay between £6,000 and £10,000 for your system.

Installing a ground source heat pump will cost between £9,500 and £18,500 depending on the size of the heat pump system

Remember with the Boiler Upgrade Scheme you can apply to receive from the government up to £7500 towards having an heat pump installed.
